If you are like most builders I work with, you are very busy. You manage multiple projects, multiple people, multiple subs, multiple clients, etc. You jump from reactive task to reactive task. It is exhausting. In this workshop, you'll learn how to break this cycle and move yourself from "reactive-tactical" to "proactive-strategic", how to get control of yourself and your time, and ultimately how to build an EPIC construction business.
One of Bill’s oldest childhood memories is playing hide and seek with his brother and sister among the clothing racks in the retail stores that his father managed. There he learned lessons like “do what you say you are going to do” and “always put yourself in the other person’s shoes” which have served him well on his business journey.
His dad initially talked him out of going into the retail business and encouraged him to pursue an engineering degree. Bill completed a BSEE from Duke University and an MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill. But, after running several businesses for other people, Bill failed to heed his father’s advice and found himself owning a retail business. He had all the trappings of success- a nice family, a nice house, nice cars and a country club membership. On the outside things looked great, but on the inside Bill struggled. He had cash flow issues, team challenges, and he was working 60 to 90 hours per week. If only he’d had a coach or a mentor then.
Since then, he has owned businesses in industries ranging from automation to coaching and from poultry to business brokerage. Ten years ago, Bill found his true passion in coaching other business owners to success. Bill has worked with 100's of business owners to achieve EPIC business results while also helping them reach their personal goals. As he watched his best construction clients become coaches within their own organizations, Bill realized that good coaching created more good coaches. Drawing on the teachings of his mentor Brad Sugars, and on the teachings of the legendary coach, John Wooden; Bill is now on a mission to help construction professionals and their organizations develop coaches and coaching programs from within. He calls it EPIC.
Bill is currently one on the top 30 business coaches in the world, speaks on a wide range of business topics, and loves to teach companies how to develop and implement coaching programs inside their businesses using the EPIC process.
Bill lives in Montreat, NC with his wife of 32 years, Lynn. They have two grown sons. In his spare time, Bill enjoys golf, fly-fishing, reading books on business and theology, and pretty much doing anything outdoors with his sons.
