Mike Gutschenritter is an advocate of universal design and has over 20 years of progressive work experience within the public and private sectors. Michael currently works for the Veterans Administration as a Specially Adapted Housing Agent, assisting disabled Veterans in applying for VA Special Housing Adaptation Grants.
As part of his duties, Michael routinely educates builders on the intricacies of VA Special Adapted Housing Grant programs and VA Minimum Property Requirements - for both new construction and renovation projects. Embracing VA’s core values, Michael consistently ranks among the top producers for total number of grants approved each year and overall Veteran client satisfaction. He has been working in this capacity since 2012.
Before devoting his work fulltime to the VA, Michael worked as facility manager for the Wounded Warrior Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC (2009-2012), ensuring safe and accessible housing accommodations for severely wounded, ill and/or injured Marines. His property management experience was derived through personal interests and real estate investments that eventually culminated into formal real estate education and subsequent broker licensure (2003).
Michael holds a MA in Management & Leadership from Webster University (2011); an Executive Certificate in Public & Nonprofit Leadership from Chapman University (2011); and a BA in Public & Business Administration from American University (1989). He earned the NAHB Certified Aging In Place (CAPS) designation in 2016.
